About TetraMap
Strength lies in
valuing difference.
TetraMap is a simple, nature-based framework for understanding difference, building relational intelligence and helping people work better together.
Our story
Built in
New Zealand.
Shared with the world.
TetraMap began with a question from founders Jon and Yoshimi Brett: what could nature teach us about understanding difference?
The answer became a practical framework that is now used by facilitators, leaders, educators and communities around the world.

Mission
We equip people with a simple nature-based framework to build relational intelligence, reduce misunderstanding and work better together.
Our promise
Simple language.
Deep insight.
Stronger relationships.
Our values
How we choose to work.
These six values underpin what we do, say and offer.

“You can never learn less; you can only learn more.” is a favourite quote from Buckminster Fuller I uphold daily.
Co-Founder
Jon Brett
Yoshimi and I created TetraMap as a metaphor for the nature of behaviour to help people discover for themselves HOW people are different. It is a simple tool which also applies to the behaviour of systems and can help us develop eco-centric approaches mimicking the emergent evolution of Nature.
Co-Creator, author and facilitator of change
Yoshimi Brett
Alongside Jon, I co-created TetraMap. Now “retired” …we’re thrilled to have the space to crystallise lessons learned from TetraMap and to apply those lessons in support of Nature. Our intentions are to help leaders embrace the mindset that we ARE Nature. When we heal Nature, we heal ourselves.

The Founders Stewardship Council
Jon and Yoshimi Brett remain connected to the work, offering founder wisdom when questions touch the identity, values, and long-term stewardship of TetraMap.

Founders Stewardship Council
Jon & Yoshimi Brett
Yoshimi Brett is a third generation Japanese-American-Kiwi. Jon Brett is a born and bred Kiwi. They started their adventure in 1978 sailing the Pacific, then lived in Japan and Australia. Fast forward 46 years – they’re now in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) on the whenua (land) where Jon grew up.
In 2000 Yoshimi & Jon birthed TetraMap, a model that explores the nature of behaviour. They authored the book: TetraMap: Develop People and Business the Way Nature Intended. Since, they’ve watched their tamariki (child) develop into a beautiful network of dedicated facilitators of change.
Buckminster Fuller (1895-1983) and Nature sit at the heart of TetraMap. In 1976, Fuller predicted that it would take 50 years (pointing to 2026) for humanity to truly realize that its institutions were based on an …outdated, inaccurate understanding of the world, specifically in relation to resource management and “sufficiency”.*
Nature has always guided us toward the wisdom of the Elements and ‘shared sufficiency’. Now in 2026, humanity has a multitude of technical solutions needed to repair the planet so we can all live in abundance and peace. It’s the shifts needed in our behaviours and mindsets that will manifest the world our grandchildren will to grow into. TetraMap’s time of acceptance and relevance has come to help make those shifts.
Yoshimi and Jon are forever grateful to those committed to listening to Nature and instilling her principles for a world that is, like her, “exquisitely efficient”.
